So once again Terrell Owens is rushed to the hospital do to an overdose of prescription medication. Back in 2006 his overdose was described as a “bad reaction to painkillers” though it was rumored he tried to commit suicide by downing 35 Vicodin pills. There’s no word on what caused this overdose but we know it involved pain meds, a 911 call and a rushed trip tot eh hospital. From TMZ:
Emergency officials were responding to a call about a possible prescription pill overdose when they were dispatched to the L.A. apartment where Terrell Owens was staying last week … law enforcement sources tell TMZ.
As we first reported, Owens was transported by ambulance to an L.A. hospital Thursday night. Cops were also dispatched to investigate — and spoke with T.O. at the hospital.
Owens has since been released.
T.O. had a rough upbringing that clearly still haunts him if anyone has listened to his interviews or watched his T.O. Show over the years. While we don’t know what caused the overdose, I hope he gets whatever help he needs so we’re not reporting about a third such incident in the future.

Ah man do I love me some ESPN The Body issue. Each year they never cease to amaze with athletes that make you want to drool and others that remind you you need to head to the gym. This year’s issue features athletes from all sports from MMA to Women’s Soccer. These buff lads and sleek beauties reminds us mere mortals just what it takes to be at the top of your game when you’re the athlete. And as ESPN knows so well, it all starts with the body.

So the chatter around the sports water cooler this week is all about the massive contracts signed by Michael Vick and Chris Johnson. Michael Vick signed a six year 100 million dollar deal (more like 5 years 80 million dollars) that has 40 million dollars of guaranteed funds. Chris Johnson’s newly inked 4 year 53.5 million dollar deal has 30 million dollars in guaranteed funding which is insane for a running back (the Vikings and the Bears are side-eyeing the hell out of the Titans right now).
Now the question is can they deliver?
The Philadelphia Eagles aren’t going to be satisfied with anything less than a Super Bowl and VIck’s contract is structured with that in mind. It’s front
loaded, with emphasis on the first two years of the contract. By all reasoning it’s Super Bowl or trade for Michael Vick by year three of the contract, which also has a 3 million dollar buyout should he suffer a career ending injury. Obviously Vick is coming off the best year of his career, but he’s still prone to injury and their lack of a good right tackle means he could be out for several games as he was last year. Hopefully they use some of that money they saved by giving Vick a long term deal to shore up the offensive line. And yes, some still have doubt that he is a super bowl caliber quarterback – his inability to read defenses plays into this (and rightfully so) – but much of that seems to be couched in the “I Hate Vick” crowd and nothing the man does is gonna make those folk think highly of him.
Now Chris Johnson is a running back that’s put up the best numbers in the league since 2008, but the worry is he is a running who’s been putting up big numbers since 2008. Running backs average less than three seasons in the NFL, they take more punishment than any position and are used up faster than a Hollywood Boulevard hooker. With that said, this contract is more for payment of the last three years of productivity than any numbers he may put up in the future. We very well may have seem the best of Johnson 30 million dollars in guaranteed monies or no, I mean his knees can only take so much, he is just a man after all no matter how super human he seems on the field.
So what say you? Have we seen the best from Vick and Johnson? Will they be highly paid disappointments or will they earn every penny guaranteed them and shut down all the naysayers?
